--------About the design and inspiration--------

All of my designs are originally hand painted by me with my beloved watercolour paints.

--------So what is lipoedema?--------

I was inspired to create this design in order to raise awareness for lipoedema, a disease I was diagnosed with last year. Even though it affects up to 11% of women, it is rarely diagnosed. I want to create this in order to both raise awareness for this disease and to show the beauty and diversity of lipoedema people and plus size bodies in general.

So what is lipoedema (Lipedema in the States)? It's a progressive and chronic fat disorder that leads to disproportionate weight gain in the arms and legs. It almost exclusively affects women and is believed to be triggered by hormonal changes (ie puberty, pregnancy, menopause). There is no cure and the affected fat cannot be lost through diet and exercise.
